Updated: 11/07/2015 for Windows 10
I don’t know about you but I sure love the Windows Mail app. I use it exclusively for all email on my Surface.
Easy access via Start Screen, great touch interface, quick preview of latest email and number of new messages on the tile. What’s not to love?
I have set it up with all of email accounts on my Surface and now I have an easy, quick, one-place-for-all access to all my email.
Other than getting it setup, the most common question I get about the Windows Mail app on the Surface is “How do I set up my signature in the Mail app?”
Well, a mail signature is not actually set up for the entire app, signatures are set for each and every email account.
This makes sense because you may not want the same signature for, let’s say.. your work email and your personal email. Or, if you’re like me, you have 7 email accounts and you want a different signature for each one.
So, here is how you set up signature in Windows Mail app:
Windows 10 Instructions
- Open Windows Mail App
- Make sure you select the email account that you want to assign a signature to.
- Click the Gear icon in the bottom left corner.
- In Settings select Options.
- Scroll down to Signature section and make sure Signature is turned ON.
- Type in your Signature in the text box.
- Repeat the process for each email account.
That’s it for Windows 10 instructions, now onto Windows 8.1..
Windows 8.1 Instructions
- Open Windows Mail App
- Open Charms menu by swiping from the right and choose Settings
-
Tap Accounts
-
Tap the account you want to set up signature for
-
Make sure Use an email signature is turned on
- Type in your signature in the signature box
- Go back to accounts and the signature will be automatically saved
- Rinse and repeat to set up signature in Windows Mail app for all of your email accounts on the Surface
That’s it, it’s that easy.
