How to Annotate PDFs with OneNote App on Your Surface:

There are many ways to annotate PDFs on Surface tablets, like Foxit MobilePDF or Drawboard apps – for example, but did you know that you can also do it with the OneNote App?

Yes indeed.

In the OneNote App you can markup, highlight and tag the PDF document and it will be automatically saved to your OneNote Notebook. You can then print it, use it in a presentation, or share it via email and other apps.

Here is how annotate a PDF with OneNote App on your Surface:

Open the PDF in OneNote:

  • Open the OneNote App
  • Start a new Note
  • Touch and hold (with your finger, not the pen) anywhere in the blank space of the note

  • The radial menu appears, choose Insert
  • Find the PDF you want to annotate and select it

Now you have opened your PDF in OneNote app.

To annotate:

  • Using the pen, press and hold anywhere in the note

  • From the radial menu that appears, choose the pen you prefer
  • Write away

To highlight:

  • Using the pen, press and hold anywhere in the note

  • From the radial menu that appears, select the highlighter
  • Highlight away

To tag:

  • Using your finger, press and hold anywhere in the note

  • From the radial menu that appears choose Tag
  • Type your tag(s)
