As part of their regular Patch Tuesday, Microsoft has released several firmware updates for the Surface tablets. Surface Pro 3 is getting four updates, including the long awaited Surface Ethernet Adapter update.
Here is the full list of firmware updates for Surface Pro3:
- Surface Power Cover (2 updates) – Surface Pro embedded controller firmware (v38.4.50.0) and System Aggregator firmware (v3.9.250.0)
- LifeCam – improves power consumption during video chat and Flash camera streaming in Internet Explorer (v5.20.1034.0)
- Surface Ethernet Adapter – improved support for gigabit Ethernet adapter (v8.14.0704.2014)
Note: Firmware updates cannot be uninstalled or switched back to an earlier version.
Also on the list of firmware updates for today, the original Surface Pro is getting improved Ethernet stability update, see full Surface Pro update history. And Surface RT is getting and update that enhances its overall system stability, see more info here.
In addition to firmware updates, Microsoft also released several Windows 8.1 updates, including Windows Defender update and a critical Internet Explorer update.
Both Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 were omitted in today’s Patch Tuesday list.
As before, you can wait for the updates to be pushed down to your system – if you have auto-update enabled – or you can do as I did and install them manually.
