Windows Store IRC App Review

Overview:

As I mentioned before the Surface RT does not run Java and does not allow any add-ons to its IE 10 RT. This was only a problem for me when I tried to use a Java based chat online. So, I went in search of a mIRC client in the Windows Store. I found this app – IRC Explorer. It was cheap enough for me to try it out to see if I can get around this Java chat problem.

The install was super easy. I had it installed and set up in less than 5 minutes. All you really need to know is your IRC server info, add a new connection, and off you go. It worked flawlessly. I was able to connect to several IRC chats with no problems.

Conclusion & Rating:

Nice app. Easy to install. Easy to use. It solved my Java chat (IRC) problem on the Surface RT. definitely worth the $2.99 price tag. I’m giving this one 5 smiles for ease of use and low cost.
