If you have a Surface Book or Surface Pro 4 and have been suffering from frequent display driver crashes, you’ll probably be interested in knowing that Microsoft just released a new firmware update today that’s intended to fix the problems.
Hopefully, it will do the job. I guess we’ll find out soon.
Updated Display Drivers for Surface: Details
The update is listed in Windows Updates as “System Hardware Update – 12/2/2015.” and here’s what’s included in it:
- HD Graphics 520 driver update (v20.19.15.4326) improves driver stability.
- Surface Display Calibration driver update (v1.1.381.0) supports compatibility with the updated graphics driver.
So, it will probably try to install on its own in the next day or two but, if you’re impatient, you can always manually check for updates at your convenience. Be aware that the patch will require a restart to complete the installation.
