Pandora Radio for Surface: MetroRadio App Review

MetroRadio App ReviewMetroRadio App Review:

Recently, I heard someone complaining about the lack of Pandora Radio app for the Surface 2. I am so tired of people saying that the Surface doesn’t have any apps. It is simply not true. If you are a huge Pandora fan, there is at least one player that will play Pandora music for you – MetroRadio.

I use it all the time with my Pandora account. I just don’t understand what the big deal is, I think many folks simply don’t know that many apps in Windows Apps Store are simply written by third parties and have different names.

OK, off my soap box and here is the review of MetroRadio:

  • Name: MetroRadio
  • Runs on: Surface RT, Surface 2 (and LTE), Surface Pro, Surface Pro 2
  • Find it: Windows Store
  • Cost: $Free

MetroRadio App Review: Overview and Features

This is a third party app for the Pandora streaming service. The app was originally designed to work on the Windows 8 Phones but it turns out it works well on other Windows devices as well. MetroRadio was created by the young Mustafa Taleb and is the number one Pandora app for Windows RT devices.

When you log in with your Pandora account, you will have access to the following:

  • Use of existing Pandora account
  • Play/Pause/Stop
  • Add station
  • Skip
  • Like/Dislike/Ban
  • Pin to Start

MetroRadio App Review: Overall Rating

Overall, I like this app. It is simple and easy to use. It retains your Pandora playlists and likes. It is missing the “buy” and “share” options of Pandora but to me that makes very little difference. I recommend this application and give it four (4) smilies out of five.

  1. Joanna and Tim,
Thank you very much for such a simple/practical/easy way to get to my Pandora account on my Surface 2!

  2. Joanna, Thanks for the article. For those who live outside US and want to access Pandora radio, you can use UnoTelly as I do to get around the geo block.

  3. Looks like this is no longer working. Many on the Store get the same as I, “Error getting songs”. 🙁 Would have been nice to have my WIndows Surface RT be my holiday music center. Ah well, stuck with the web version.

    • Hi,
That’s right, this is an older post. Since then MetroRadio has been taken down because Pandora claimed right infringement. So, the only option on Surface RTs is to use Xbox Music, which is not free.
      🙁
      Joanna

  4. Both vendors in this case (Microsoft and Pandora) should be ashamed. I spent a few hours on this till I read your email with the latest (Thanks). But then Microsoft has no shame. I know this well from countless other wasted afternoons.

  5. Thank for the post. I had spent quite a bit of time uninstalling and reinstalling the Metro Radio app before I saw this post.
