Microsoft Surface Pro 5 releasing in Q1 of 2017

Hey guys and happy New Years Eve! 2016 is ending and 2017 is about to begin! There are a lot of releases coming out for Microsoft.

From a reputable source, Digitimes, the Surface Pro 5 is releasing Q1 of 2017.

As you know the Surface Pro 5 will have a ultra HD display and a magnetic charging stylus!

We are not sure when the Surface Pro 5 will release exactly but we are sure it will not disappoint us like the Surface Pro 3 and 4 battery life.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 came a long way from when it was first released in October 26, 2015 to now with many firmware updates.

Let’s hope Microsoft learnt from last year to improve the Surface Pro battery life since many people had problems with the Surface Pro 3 and 4.

  1. Was there anyone that didn’t expect a Q1 2017 release after Microsoft didn’t announce it during the Microsoft Event?

I’m hoping that ultra HD turns out to be false, I want to retain the 3:2 aspect ratio of the SP3 and 4.

That aside, I only have three real questions about the release:
    1) Will we finally get a bigger battery and longer runtimes?
    2) Will Microsoft finally update the ports? USB-C with Thunderbolt would be nice in addition to USB-A
    3) Will the next Surface Book get one of the new 25W Kaby Lake Quadcores?

  2. Hey Steamrick,

1., because the electric consumption of Kaby Lake is pretty low then we will
2., USB-C and Thunderbolt is 100% sure, attached video cards here I come :).
    3., Don`t know.

And I feel the same with ultra HD: we don`t need it, this almost-4K resolution what we have now is more than enough.

  3. Gentlemen,
As much as I would love to see a USB-C and Thunderbolt (or maybe even a better connector) on the next iteration of the Surface pro, I don’t think it will come through. Because if they do include such a connector on the surface pro “5”, what would be the selling point of the surface book…….nothing!!!
